Triumph over darkness

Like the rain

There was a girl who had brown eyes

That in them laid a small spark of surprise

She waits in the corner for the clock to strike

The time had almost reached midnight

The rain outside comes crashing down

She's a lonely girl  stuck in a big town

The tears rolled slowley down her face

All she wanted was a little embrace

Nothing seems to have gone her way

She just took it day by day

Outside the rain quickly scatters

Now she thinks nothing matters

She started to walk among the floor

She wanted to be here no more

She wanted and wanted but never got

She thought of all this while knowing not

Of the talent she had deep inside

Where there used to be hope and pride

The neighbors found her lying in the lawn

As the sun rose at the peak of dawn

And like the rain, she is gone

flashoflight I very much enjoyed the flow of this... It is a testament to this poem that I left rather speechless, and cannot think of what to say...

mcihellejane Now that was a good write! The smooth flow and rhyme were wonderful. I'm usually not a fan of poems like this, but I have to give you credit--this one was good. Very nice job!
