Without Warning

I glanced across a crowded room in hopes that you were headed in my direction

To hold me and whisper the most wonderful things that would only sound possible coming from you

But as I spotted you, my heart shattered into more pieces than it had already been broken into a thousand times

There was the man I had always dreamed of sharing a moment with a girl I had never seen before in my life

As the two of you sat down, you lay your head on her shoulder and turned to whisper in her hear

At that moment, I couldn’t help but wonder had you told her all the wonderful things that you had once said to me?

And then, without warning, you looked at me, you looked at me with the same look you had given her not a second before

I knew even looking at you from across the room, that that look was meant for me

I knew what you were thinking I knew you were wondering if I was watching you if I had seen you

And I had and at that moment to keep my heart from even more anguish, I turned away

I dared not watch you as slowly, and unknowingly, killed me inside
