Rebirth

Colored Hope

We walk side-by-side in a well-worn rhythm

Our fingers intertwined, our palms kissing

I stare intently on your face to capture it

I wished then that I had photographic memory

So the curve of your nose, the crinkles of your grin

Could stay with me for the night

Rounding our usual street corners

Me yearning for a new scenery to get lost in

I look across at the lone bench of the green park

And think it perfect to experience with you

But your tugging arm reminds me of your urgency

So I turn away from the magical bench to reality

As we walk away I try to erase the desire within me to

Experience the changing colors of the sky with you

While we sat upon the bench surrounded by green

The shadows crossing your face as dark descended

And the goosebumps raised against your skin

As the cool evening air enveloped us into the black

Long after we walked our separate ways

I still held the fragile hope of experiencing color

Of observing the subtle breezes tickling the leaves

The multi-dyed trees and fertile green grass

Breathing in the crisp, autumn air and breathing out

Exhaling all my pent up stress and emotion

This was all I wanted to do with you..

Experience a moment of profound beauty

Inhale and exhale the air and colors ever-swirling

Making itself known throughtout nature

I wanted a single moment of this simiplicity

To get some much needed relief physically, emotionally and spiritually

But my pitiful hope was squashed under the foot of

Rushing, mechanical, everyday hustle and bustle of life

I needed a short pause to regain my footing

So I can breath in sync with natures rhythm and

Fall into the natural balance I know is within me

But of course, you didn't know any of this and went on

Now I stumble down into the unknown abyss called the future

With the broken hope haunting and lingering within my memories

The burning desire to sit upon the bench with you is still strong

I hope and wish and pray that we'll be able to take a break

To enjoy each others company surrounded by all the colors:

Reds, oranges, yellows and the magnificient greens of the park
