Darkness

Darkness
 The only thing that keeps me sane in these lonely hours
It all blurs
Reality
Perception
All distorted in the darkness
Funny how calming thoughts come at this time
Those that bring sleep
Dreams
Sometimes even nightmares
Our deepest thoughts are locked inside the darkness
The blackness in our minds
Occasionally our souls
And on rare occasions, our hearts
Our most hidden fears await in the darkness
Everything our worst nightmares consist of
The thoughts that do keep us up at night
That rob us of the calm feeling in the darkness
Strange that something so calming can also bring fear
Being alone in the darkness
Battling our darkest demons there.
Waiting for the light of a new day to shine
Bring us hope from the despairing darkness
The reason we endure the darkness so long
Is to see the light at the end.
