I'm a shadow in the dark

 

Watching and waiting

 

Observing the human world

 

I see war and cruel fights

 

People mocking who you are

 

Hurt feelings and crushed pride

 The victims slip into the darkness of which they are introduced  

For these exact reasons I am a shadow

 

I don't belong to that world

 

I avoid the pain and cruelty

 

That I've felt too often before

 

But when my true light comes

 

I will no longer be just this shadow

 

He will make my world safe

 

And I shall experience

 

After the longest time

 What it is to be truly happy
