Paradox |
One becomes Two
The sadistic scene and set unfold, villain strikes victim again and again.
Then the masks are removed, the villain is you, the victim your friend.
If only you had known your friend was one of ‘them’.
And by sentencing one in hate millions are condemned.
Because one becomes two, two becomes four…
And your singular hatred affects so many more…
Your abhorrence like a ring of dominoes, push one and we all fall down.
Your sins, like drops of water, collected and in them we all shall drown.
You let your destructive emotions build under your skin.
But in your bloodlust you took out foe as well as kin
Because one becomes two, two becomes four…
And one slaughtering leads to countless more…
At one time I played the villain, and I watched, numb as my victim fell.
My anesthesia vanished when I saw a familiar face, now a lifeless shell.
He was beyond penitence or apology, the damage was done.
I was the catalyst of all the calamity, just because I hurt one.
I didn’t know one becomes two, two becomes four…
And one act of hate could bring about infinite more…
Then the masks are removed, the villain is you, the victim your friend.
If only you had known your friend was one of ‘them’.
And by sentencing one in hate millions are condemned.
Because one becomes two, two becomes four…
And your singular hatred affects so many more…
