Rise from the Ashes

Born and bred in the blaze it was destined to go down in flames.

Was it the winds of change that finally blew out the fire?

Or was it the deluge of tears and time that is to blame?

I knew trials were soon but didn’t expect something so dire.

One day it was burning so bright.

No danger was seen, only a clear sky.

But tomorrow came bringing its blight.

We woke only in time to watch the fire die.

Memories and ashes the only remains.

All other mementos had burned away.

But we remember the conflagration before the pain.

In hopes new life may rise from the ashes someday.
