The Friend Cycle

I’ve walked the dividing line and both sides I have tried.
I’ve paid the price of shame and seen the effects of pride.
I’ve observed how friendships start, end, and how friends have cried.
Some end because one makes a mistake and both parties pay.
Some never know why their friendship went astray.
Someday one friend will just stop coming out to play.
The problem it causes when one leaves without a good bye.
The problem isn’t the hate its how they start to always lie.
The problem is the tone of their voice and the changed look in their eye.
It’s the cycle that causes the tears to pour.
It’s the cycle that makes us want to close our heart and lock the door,
And yet it’s the friend cycle that we live and die for.

I’ve seen the love wax then wane, how things fell apart and finally died.
Some friendships end when one friend has to move far away.Some end because one makes a mistake and both parties pay.
Some never know why their friendship went astray.

The problem is you want to be a good friend, but it’s rarely worth it to try.
It’s the cycle that makes our emotions soar.It’s the cycle that causes the tears to pour.
It’s the cycle that makes us want to close our heart and lock the door,
And yet it’s the friend cycle that we live and die for.
