Nightmare

Lay awake at night
tucked in tight yet
screaming in fright.

Insomatic all night long
same old hypnotic song.
Hearing family screaming
seeing friends bleeding.

An awesome facade hides
a gruesome, hellish visage.
As the world goes to rest.
and inner evil awakens.

Memories of late haunt the day,
gaunt creatures stalk the night.

Melancholy wracks the brain,
reanimating memories of pain.
Inflicting delusions/Arousing illusions.

A night of tortured sleep,
injecting paranoia all day.

Till moonlight bathes the earth,
and the daylight drains away.

Round and round goes
this carousel of fear
this circle of terror.
And the nightmare
starts all over again.
