Friend or Foe

Views (24) Respect Created on 7-14-08 Flag

It is as it always was,

Stone upon stone with mighty force,

Taking strides and deep breaths for the sake of exertion,

Time allows, molds, sculpts, carves endlessly,

Offering itself to its maker,

Granting no restitution for its rehabilitation,

And loving no force more than,

There is no circumstance greater,

Than a condition of despair and blood,

Forcing the eyes to be opened wider,

Than one would ever allow,

For a darkened, angry stare is one of the best defenses,

For the time being,

Casting all hope upon the one who might love,

For little more reason than a ‘thank you,’

As you might be not of the eternal sort,

Yet it’s you that grants the home,

And shown not mercy or great compassion,

He does not flee or hide,

Fight or lash,

Within his walls of simple borders,

He is content with you as his protection for the little he fears,

Without remedy to such cause he blindly follows you,

Granting you an imitation, an onlooker, an understudy if you will,

His grace mirrors you, only greater, faster, stronger,

And with no lack for poise,

There are no stains on his cloth,

No stab wounds in his back,

You might be jealous in fact, of his untouchable nature,

Yet pity is all I feel,

For I’ve felt some in his shoes,

Being one with the nothing and the omnipresent,

If only for a moment,

As far as I might be concerned,

He is my best friend,

The secret lies in his suffering silence,

Knowing that despite your ignorance,

Despite your apathy,

He shall not abandon,

From the brightest day,

To the darkest night,

From the hottest barrens,

To the coldest wastelands,

He shall remain,

Why, I wonder, does he endure for us?

What reason does he have to be so stationary?

Well I have no proof, but I possess a guess,

As far as my simple human mind can reach,

I see that he is mourning,

Mourning the loss of our goodness,

And knowing forever,

That the new state to which we cling,

Shields us from him,

Forever blocking the great friendships that could,

Such a sad, terrible thing…
