Fear

Growing since the dawn of daze without freedom of his grasp,

Omniscient is his blackened stare as you feel him claw your mind,

Whatever sins might once commit remorse be as he gropes,

Darkened corners of your mind will not keep him out,

So why do you fight?

He is always coming toward you with malignant intent,

He might envision you lying open and still upon something cold and bare,

He might imagine you broken and slit upon a mess of yourself,

He takes steps at a time just waiting for you to trip,

So why do you run?

He conspires within himself against you whilst you watch,

Pointing spotlights in your face to try and bring out the hidden flaws,

His persistence is incomparable and his desire unquenchable,

He will do whatever he must to find the answers that are not there,

So why do you hide?

He’s everywhere and anywhere at all times unwelcome,

You’ll never see him until the end and even then as a glimpse,

His shape is rough and sketchy at best without much definition,

Carved and sculpted from the pits and pendulums of your deepest darkest dreams,

So why do you scream?
