Life

Haunted

Views (60) Fear Created on 2-7-07 Flag
Memories clutter up my mind,
Unorganized little cluster fucks,
Misplaced hopes,
Lost dreams,
Hidden regrets,
Waiting;
Only to rush up to the surface,
Like random little pieces of driftwood from a sunken crash long ago.
There is no longer a treasure deep within my soul.
Walking along this raging shore of a motionless black ocean,
I reach out,
Arms wide,
To a place where there was a light.
A bright jewel hanging in the sky,
Filled with warmth,
Tasting like honeysuckle on a summer's day,
Filling laughter in every breath.
Then the scattered bottles brushed the glittering sands;
Intruding in on my paradise,
Holding whispers of pain;
Dark secrets;
Lies;
A future waiting to break open.
Broken bottles glint up at me,
Reminding me of each day I smashed one against the rocks.
Searching for the answers to each haunted question on the wind.
So here I now stand,
Waiting,
Listening to the wind,
Wondering,
If I cross this event horizon,
Into the unknown,
Will there be a star reborn?
To replace the one I lost long ago?
Or will I be forgotten?
Like so many unopened bottles,
Scattered in the oceans across the world,
Drifting along,
In this black hole,
Now called my soul.
