Dearest Sister |
The Leap of Faith, To End One's Sorrow
She walks down a single path,
her blonde hair blows in the night's breeze.
A storm bringing Zeus' wrath,
her soul was free to seize.
She paused at a crossroad unsure of which path to take,
not wanting to go the wrong way, not wanting to make the traditional mistake.
Her eyes blur with tears,
surfacing pain she's endured all these years.
Trees around her were withering with age,
leaves fell -suffering from mother nature's rage.
She looks up to see her family in the distance,
their faces full of anger and pain from years of resistance.
Looking down another path, she sees her close friend,
"Don't be sad, I'll be here for you in the end."
More friends surfaced, reaching out to her,
several tears built up, causing her vision to blur.
"I can't do this anymore..." She cries,
fed up with the shadiness and all the lies.
Four children walked towards her from another trail,
this causing her to turn pale.
"I don't want them here..." She cried, looking pleadingly at her friends,
they looked at the children, the very reason she weakens.
Dropping to her knees she caresses the first child's face,
their saddended expressions she couldn't erase.
"I'm sorry I can't be strong," She kissed her neices cheek,
her strength was failing, she was becoming weak.
As her lips touched the child's skin, they all began to fade,
the sadness grew inside her, this is the price she paid.
She looked up to see all eyes on her,
"look away," she whispered, an audience she didn't prefer.
Walking backwards, away from the crossroad,
everything infront of her started to unfold.
All the pain and tears,
she distanced herself from her peers.
Her foot slipped on the edge and she caught herself, looking at each friend,
"Thanks for everything, but this is the end."
Closing her eyes she took a faithful leap,
falling deep into the abyss of neverending sleep.
Her friends leaped forward, just missing her hand,
watching her fall ..to an unreachable land.
"Goodbye," One whispered, tears in their eyes,
not even Zeus could silence their cries.
