Dearest Sister |
The Doll House
A little girl walks down the street, holding her mother and sister's hands,
little did this little girl know she would have to live up to their demands.
Her sister was sixteen when she gave birth to her first son,
the little girl became an aunt but she was only nine so she thought "this is fun".
She loved holding her sister's child and watching him grow and grow,
little did this little girl realize that in everyone else's eyes her sister looked pretty low.
The yelling in the house became unbearable to listen to,
the little girl sat, holding her nephew - she didn't have a clue.
She didn't have a clue as to what was about to take place,
a few incidents that her mind won't let her memory erase.
Her sister was kicked out of the house, her child was left with them there,
all the little girl could do was stare.
Confused as to why her sister could no longer live at home,
the little girl cried at night, feeling all alone.
The little girl grew older, both the sister and her mom were holding both of her hands,
this time they were pulling, barking commands.
"She's my sister, I want to see her!" Her older sister cried,
Their mother turned her cheek, feeling defied.
As time passed, the little girl wasn't so little anymore,
but the son was just getting ready to get out and explore.
Like a mother, the girl took her nephew under her wing,
she fed him, bathed him and picked him up when he fell off the swing.
More time passed and the oldest sister gave birth to a son and later two baby girls,
now her younger sister felt like she was doing summersaults and twirls.
Her mother yanked one arm and her sister yanked the other,
feeling constantly fought over the girl thought "why bother".
Now eighteen, she continued to visit her oldest sister,
talking about boys and how much she missed her.
Her sister admits something bold,
"If it's a secret" the younger sister said, "Then I don't want to be told."
And with that, silence took over the room,
the younger sister knew what would be coming soon.
Not a battle , but a war,
not soldiers but C.P.S. knocking on both of their door.
The mother and the sister sweep in on her arms again,
this time yanking - trying to win.
"Pick a side" The mother says, "To me, your sister's dead."
The younger sister shakes her head and turns away,
"I won't take sides." She states with nothing more to say.
Days go by and all she can think about is losing her nephew,
her sister already has three kids to care for - doesn't she have a clue?
The younger sister sits in her room, and writes a letter,
the sooner her sister knows, the better.
' You gave up your right to him many years ago,
maybe you should've been a mother and not a teen hoe.
My bitter words, I hope they cut you deep,
then like me, you can lose sleep.
You claim you want your family united but you're destroying mine,
you're my sister but you have definatly crossed the line.
I can't stand how selfish you've become,
so selfish you're not even considering the needs of your first born son.
He's well taken care of here,
so why dont you do yourself a favor and get a career.
Save some money and get on your feet,
then you can have him and your family will be complete.
Until you accomplish this task,
leave it alone - that's all that I ask.
By pursuing this issue, you're pushing me away,
by your side I can no longer stay.
You have tested our friendship, our strong sister wall,
now everything's different and I'm not sure if I can forgive you at all.
I hope you can wake up and see what you're doing to me,
a lose-lose this situation's going to be.'
With that, the younger sister closed her notebook and sighed,
she stayed up all night and cried.
In the morning she looked in the mirror,
what had happened to her was crystal clear.
Her arms had finally been pulled apart at the seams,
never did she think she'd break, not in her wildest dreams.
Her mothers handprint on one arm, the sister's on the other,
laying back she couldnt help but think 'why bother'.
And with that, the broken doll was found,
her owner, a little girl, quickly turned around.
"What happened?" Her mother asked, taking the little girls hand,
"You broke my doll!" Her oldest sister cried, pulling on the other arm - little did the little girl know, she would have to live up ...to their demands.
