An Emptiness Inside

Her skin has already stretched and rounded,
the whirl of her child's heartbeat has already sounded.
The nursery was painted a faint baby blue,
bandaids ready for any future "boo-boo".
One cloudy day- she felt a sharp pain and let out a cry,
bent over with a pained expression, she let out a deep sigh.
The pain passed so she continued on with her day,
"I'm sure it was just a contraction" is all her doctor had to say.
Her husband came home and kissed her rounded skin,
kissing his very first kin.
"Very active today?" He asked with a big smile,
"Actually I haven't felt him move for quite a while.."
"The doctor said that could happen since you're almost due",
she nodded with agreement -they had no clue.
While laying down -ready to sleep,
a worse pain came- causing her to wheep.
The porcelain sheets were now a dark burgundy,
she broke down in tears for the baby they would never see.
