Dearest Sister |
The Affect of A Child
Tears streamed down her face,
the past was something she couldn't erase.
Morning sickness took its toll,
her virginity and innocence - something he stole.
Not wanting a constant reminder of that day,
she makes an appointment to make it all go away.
The little bump forming underneath her shirt,
making it impossible to fit into her favorite skirt.
She enters the waiting room and feels like she's the center of everyone's stare,
maybe even God was looking down - giving her a cynical glare.
Can't believe she's in this place,
about to erase her first child's beautiful face.
Her hands move over her slightly round belly,
she still remembers the cold ultrasound jelly.
Just then - she feels something resembling a kick,
her stomach churns, she starts to feel sick.
The room starts to spin,
this was a battle she could not win.
Her mind was saying "No" but her heart was saying "yes",
rape from her boyfriend and now a baby was so much stress.
"Next?" A nurse calls from the hallway and she looked up,
a janitor walked past, holding a bloody stirrup.
Suddenly, she felt like she was in a slotter house,
they were the lion, she was the mouse.
Then came that kick again, she looked down and her eyes filled with tears,
she was facing every female teens' fears.
Just then a woman walked by - a toddler at her side,
the child looked at her and smiled - she wished she chose suicide.
Anything was better than facing this pain,
all these thoughts - driving her insane.
" Next?" The nurse yelled,
growing angry as her voice propelled.
There was that kick again - this time she saw a little impression,
a reminder of her weeks of depression.
Moving her hand, she touched the little toe,
it immediatly moved and she felt herself glow.
The glow of knowing you're carrying a child,
knowing that you're about to do something wild.
Getting up, she held her stomach and left the room,
facing her demons, facing her gloom.
"Excuse me?" She greeted the woman with the small girl,
her little pink bow held up a soft curl.
"What's her name?" She asked, smiling nervously,
The woman smiled, "Her name is Rosalie."
Nodding, she walked by,
warm air hitting her, she looked up at the sky.
The name of the child who changed her life,
saved her from sacrificing her baby to a knife.
Now knowing what her baby girl's name was going to be,
she couldn't wait to meet ' Baby Rosalie'.
