Wandering

I'm basking in sweet serenity
listening to mellow songs
hoping to escape from the world
on a cool wave of self-indulgence.
Maybe you think otherwise,
but I would be loath to give this up
for now is the time for me
to lay back and forget what you say.

Now, here is the list of things
I think you should know
while I'm on my "me-binge"
I don't care about your problems.
Whatever they may be, friend.
They aren't mine, and they won't be.

I'm soaking up sunshine
floating on cool, glistening waters
feeling the gentle touch of the wind
and maybe a someone.
It's me time, now, friend,
and I don't care about your petty worries
while the sea and forest call my name
while I could be listening to something
that instills a creative flow in me.

While everything drifts around me
going onward evermore
I have to take the time to slow down
relaxation will take a toll.

I'll have to come back one day
to the speedy-quick world I know.
Your problems again will be mine.
Your worries again will matter.
But at least, for now, 'til then...
let my mind wander.
