Poetical Plea To You From Me

Don't Believe The Lies.

Oh, but you wish you had a solution
to the world's unsolicited pains
and you hope for sweet restitution
as cars whiz along the raised highway lanes.

A candle's small flame
starts to shudder and wane
and people whose hearts are rotten
feel the harsh shame
through the lightning and rain
burning like hope that's forgotten.

Oh, say what you want, I implore you
Read me the passage unsaid
Your passionate voice makes it more true;
Tell me that honor is dead.

I'll cover my ears and I'll sing "La La La"
I'll drown out your voice with a raven's sharp caw
The lie on its own has a gaping black maw
To swallow me whole and screaming and raw.

Come and fly away with me, come and set me free
Sing and dance and play with me, for as far as we can see

You seem to think you're number one;
Please let me know when you are done.
I'll scream and cry and even run
or die alone and cold and shunned.

It all depends, when it's broken down
whether I'll float or sink and drown
whether I'll be allowed to leave
Depends upon if you believe.

Don't Believe The Lies.
