Memories |
Flashback
The injured men are wailing
Though the gunshots do not cease
Men are running here and there
Constantly keeping their guard
The sight of it all pains me
I can hear the drummer drumming
He seems to be drumming my pounding heart
I must not let down my guard
I look around for a friend
Amongst this world of chaos
And anyone I see I know
Is on the ground wailing or silent
Dead to the world
The tears start to well up
As I’m brought back to now
I lost so many friends that day
It makes me wonder how
I survived and lived all these years
When they are buried underground
Far away from their fears
I know they’ve watched over me
All these long and lonesome years
I know I’ll join them someday
But for now I’m here
And remembering the past
On this day of memory
Where others just sit and ponder
I wallow in many memories
