No Violins

The music plays so softly
Off in the distance so
I soak it up
And listen hard
For what I want to know

Will the stars come out tonight
Even after so long
Their absence is like an empty space
As I lay outside at night
Never losing hope

I wonder if they forgot how to shine
After these many years
Or maybe there was a tragedy
And they’re to sad to shine
If so then I know how they feel

But then again they can’t give up
Because even through all the pain
There’s still people out there
Counting on them
To be there in the rain
