The Vines

Views (40) Pain Created on 2-19-08 Flag
The vines crept among my heart
Like the devil taking a soul
They're black like webs
Silver like steel
Like a spider ready for a meal
I try not to cry, I try to run
But I stay put
I cannot wait for the morning sun
My eyes set upon the lake
'I beg of you; my should you take.'
The vines smother love
Push it away
Pull hatred in
Polluting the once pure
Now is flooded with darkness
I start to speak harsh, cruel words
I beg to stop
My heart is shattered
My heart is torn
I want to stop
I cannot go on
Yet, It will take my heart a long time
Time enough for the dawn
Hoping, longing for a change
A change for the better
A change that brings love
Though with the coming of the dawn
I find that once again
It's blocked out by the polluted hate
I will it to stop
Though the demons inside me don't listen
They laugh their high cruel laughs
My begging only eggs it on
When will it end?
How much longer must I suffer
'Please, Help' are my cries for mercy
Though the sound is drown out by the bats
The bats of darkness
Holding me back
Pulling me back
Keeping me there
Slowly, painfully I'm swallowed by the darkness
And never thought of again
Though once in a while someone has a thought
About a girl they once knew
A girl that was a good friend
Swallowed by the darkness
Never to return
Her world was torn apart by a simple
Divorce
No one could tell
She kept her hurt bottled inside
Only speaking through her writing
Keeping it in tore her apart
Away from her friends
Away from the sport she loved
Eventually she broke
Broke down and couldn't take it anymore
No one cared for her anymore
No one loved her
What was her use in the world if she was destined to be sad and alone?
Finally she gave in to the darkness that was pulling at her
Finally she felt no more pain
But hatred and anger took over
And her world fell to pieces
As the vines suffocated her heart
