Restless

At every noise I jump.Was that the sound I feared?All night long I stay awake,I know I can not sleep.The one beside me speaks,She tells me I must rest.For what I am waithing forWill come later in the night.The night passes on and still I wait,For sure that was the sound.I know I heard that cry,The one I’ve waited for.I run from my room,I dash down the hall.Turning on the lights,I move with great speed.Leaving without thought,I know I must arrive.Arriving at great speed,I see what I ran for.There lies my girl, in all her beauty,Still sleeping through the night.My wife slowly approaches,She tells me all is fine.For right now our child’s fine,So sleep before she wakes.
