Nights Awake

I lay awake at night,

Wishing you were by my side.

I cry myself to sleep sometimes,

only because it's so hard to go on without you.

I remember you're soft touch,

and the way you whispered 'I love you' in my ear,

before I drifted off to a happy dream land.

I remember the way you made me smile,

and how you could always make me laugh.

I remember a lot of things at night,

because it's at night when I can think.

So I lay awake at night, wishing.

Wishing people could see love,

instead of numbers, that way we could be together.

But they can't, so I'm stuck here laying awake,

waiting for those two years to drift by quickly.
