Will you let him sit down to talk

To tell of the story that brought him

Back to you and where he once belonged

The words will flow like cooling embers

The epic music of his life and the rapping,

Knocking of time at the old forgotten wood

Such spirits will touch and color with ribbons

That once were tied around a young girl’s hair

Frayed strands of memory recalled of want or leisure

It will be neither to you or him as his lips part to speak

Truthful  secrets grow no less potent with his age

Weakness may break down his voice

As the pain cracks through the air’s silence

For once you may cry with him here or then

No one was ever there to watch before

Past and present will make a rare occurrence

Though the illusion being they were never lost

To learn of one’s life through a soul of another

Truth hurts but never would you have thought…

It would rip as daggers and heals as salve

Pens dancing with their elegance across paper

Eyes dark will cast shadows painting the unheard

With depths of gray that were never seen till now

Open the door for him as he heads out

Into the sun and down the ancient traveled road

Your fork is not for a few miles so walk with him

Until your predilection wears thin or your time has come

What pulls you together pulls you apart no matter

What was said to bring to other back to the peace

Twist and dance with the younglings on the floor

The smiles and laughter make the melancholy

Seem a more friendly and welcoming reality

You were once here with him and her a long time

Ago where life and the tide had not so soon found you

He put irises in your hair, your small fingers tied his laces

Ready for the world to cast you out from shore

The waves were crashing and sun rays blazing

As two boats with different paths left home

The tethers loosened and the tears flowed freely

Out of catharsis and ebbing sadness in equal measures

Moments will pass in ages as a glass horse floats

Through the waves as a trinket of dangerous fragility

Have you reached dry land after all those years

Walking once more with him down another road

This path is not so easily seen and though you are the same

people to each other you are different to yourselves

You and him just have to understand why as he

Hands you an iris and you tie his laces once again

So let those written words find their way through the trees

They were not meant to gather dust in a forgotten place

Those tears so long ago shed by him and you

Tell of a secret that he thought he never would tell

Let evil lie behind the veil that it weaved itself

To throw a stone and watch it land where it may
