Emerald Eyes

Through your time he has doled bits of reality

taunting the fragments of truth and lie

his wide eyes held no secrets from yours

an unheard whisper to learn that you’re here

A melodic tune fell from his lips

as a story weaved the music of kings

rapture mingling with your fascination

watching through the crystal wall

Emerald irises jaded with rage and anger

fire dancing through a frosted lake

fact and fiction grafted with elaborate care

I wish that you had sensed and turned away

His fingers are cold as I grasp them

a beautiful hand that speaks of perfection

if you believe in the healing power of touch

I certainly believe in the power of its destruction
