as i watch the wind blow the leaves
it reminds me of a thousand butterfly wings
and i remember those times you smile at me
oh my love for you is such a mystery
i wish i could feel your touch
see your smile and hear your voice
it would be easier if i didnt love you so much
but when i think of you i have no choice
i think of you every morning, every day, every night
of all the hppy memories we have made
i have tried with all of my might
but my love for you will not fade
even the gray clouds make me smile
because i imagine you dancing in the rain
between us are many miles
that cause me so much heartache and pain
sometimes i wonder why i fell in love
even though i so often told myself no
but my resistance my heart rose above
and now i just have this sadness to show
i do know that i'll never forget you
my first love you'll always be
and im not writing this poem to swoon
because you'll never guess "this poem is for me"
now im trying my hardest to move on
but im afraid to force this you see
because meaningless relationships
will never match my fantasies
maybe i fell in love with you
because i was so far down in the deep
that i needed something to love, something to hold on to
just to save myself from me
so as the wind comes to a standstill
and the leaves rest peacefully
i realize this love is not "run of the mill"
its the greatest thing in history
