Is This How Death Is Cured?

Let me ask you a question
that might give me all my answers
give me a revelation
give me hope

Does anybody ever really
cease to live completely?
Or do they still live on
through the lives they've touched?

Do they live through us?
Us that have been near them?
Smelled them, heard them, felt them?
Hugged them, kissed them, loved them?

When they die are they really dead?
Or in their dying do they live?
Even more than they did before
because they are now us?

Do they in their dying connect
to become a part of all of us?
All who were there and cared?
All who loved even though they were scared?

So maybe I don’t need to hear your words
because you will “cease to live” too
but will you still be heard?
Is this how death is cured?
