What It Takes

The rain falls softly in the background,I run to a place where no one’s around.The music helps me to keep pace,My mind tries to win the race.I try to keep busy,But it’s only making me dizzy.I would gladly start drinking,If it meant I could stop thinking.So many things are going on,I can’t get over everything I’ve done wrong.Maybe I blame myself to much,I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been “touched”.Is running going to help at all,Or am I setting myself up for another fall?It’s got to end,I have nothing left to spend.I’m tired of being left behind,From tying to not lose my mind.I think it’s finally time to go,And get away from this horror show.It’s time to take a deep breath,Let’s see if I have anything left.I get down on my knees,I cry out one last plea.Suddenly it occurs to me,Why I never seem to be free.I hear God’s sweet whisper,Telling me to simply confide in Him.And just like that, I have the strength,To do what it takes.
