The Greatest Fear And Pain

It’s the thought of losing your best friend,

Or not being there for them in the end.

It’s the accusation of missing your chance to shine,

Or that obnoxious whisper saying you’re out of time.

It’s that one mistake you can’t take back,

Or not enough courage to get what you lack.

It’s seeing your friend dressed in their best shirt,

Knowing that as they fall in love they might get hurt.

It’s the thought of not being able to fix someone’s pain,

Or knowing the hurt drives them insane.

It’s loving someone so much it’s painful,

Or your friend telling you she doesn’t think she’s beautiful.

It’s finding out your friend has an eating disorder,

Or waiting for a friend to say they approve of him or her.

It’s someone throwing away your trust,

Not wanting to give them a second chance, but knowing you must.

It’s the thought someone will see you crying,

Or the fact a friend will say you’re not trying.

It’s the chance of loving someone who doesn’t care,

Or wanting to turn your back but knowing you wouldn’t dare.

It’s second-guessing your entire life,

Or realizing you are filled with strife.

It’s that one thing that brings you to tears,

Quite simply it’s your greatest fear.
