Three Envelopes

After being fired, a man was talking to his successor. "If you run into any problems, there are three envelopes in your desk. Open the first one if something bad happens. Open the second one if something really bad happens. Open the third one only if a serious crisis happens." The new guy thanked him. A couple of weeks later, something bad happened, and the new guy opened the first envelope. Inside was a note reading, "Blame the problem on your predecessor." He did, and it worked, he was off the hook. A few weeks after that, something really bad happened, so he opened the second envelope. It also contained a note, which read, "Blame the problem on the system." He did so, and was let off the hook again. A week later, a serious crisis happened. He opened the third envelope; there was a note inside. It said, "Prepare three envelopes..."
